A chat with a Whovian, being given the evil eye by a three year old, talking to footie fans, and meeting a member of the House of Lords; I believe in talking to strangers.
I’m always forgetting that, while taxi drivers are mainly great conversationalists, Uber drivers are completely the opposite…..many a time I’ve jumped in the back of an Uber and tried to start a conversation, but am met with abrupt one word answers!!
I have never been in an Uber, and shan't start now. Non-chatty drivers! What? Yesterday's train journey was disappointing, as everyone's nose was glued to phones. Chap next to me on the way to London had two phones and an ipad. Was tempted to ask if he was an international criminal, and if one phone was a burner. Thought the convo could go badly if I were right.
I notice when watching Race Across the World that football is the international language. They’ll be in Kyrgyzstan or somewhere remote, mention a football team, and they’re away, suddenly no language barrier!
My grandchildren love Paw Patrol and I’m sure would happily chat to anyone about it.
Lovely piece Maria. Talking to people on trains used to be my favourite part of the working week back in my weekly commuting days. My favourite was the woman who had been an extra in A Hard Day's Night (she was one of the schoolgirls chasing the boys onto the train).

I really enjoyed this Maria. It’s amazing where conversations lead.
Good skills, Maria!

This little one was not having it! If looks could kill... Hoping for a good chat on the train to London tomorrow
